Set in early 1900s India, this period drama follows Devdas, a wealthy zamindar's son who returns from London to reunite with his childhood sweetheart Paro. When his family forbids their marriage due to class differences, Devdas turns to alcohol and seeks solace in the company of Chandramukhi, a graceful courtesan. Caught between his love for Paro and his growing dependence on drink, Devdas spirals into self-destruction as the three central characters navigate their complicated relationships and the rigid social constraints of their time.
