Centuries into the future, a solitary waste-disposal robot has spent his existence performing his programmed task on an abandoned Earth. His routine changes when he encounters EVE, a sophisticated probe sent to search for signs of life. When EVE departs back into space, the curious robot follows her, embarking on a journey across the galaxy that becomes far more consequential than either of them anticipated.
