Where to watch Vaterland (2002)

Story

This documentary explores Straguth, a small village in Saxon-Anhalt, Germany, situated near an abandoned military airstrip. Through interviews and observations, the film examines the lives of its residents across different time periods—past, present, and potential futures. The narrative weaves together the landscape, its people, and the traces of historical change, with conversations often turning to memories of wartime. It's a layered portrait of how a quiet, seemingly forgotten place carries stories of transformation.
