Where to watch Carmen (1999) in Malaysia

Story

This documentary follows Carmen Martinek, a woman who works at Vienna's Schikaneder cinema in various capacities—from cleaning and operating the projector to tending the bar. She has developed a deep emotional attachment to the theatre, spending more time within its walls than at home. Director Anja Salomonowitz observes Carmen's intimate relationship with the cinema, capturing how she moves through the empty spaces and cares for the building. The film explores Carmen's view of movie theatres as endangered spaces threatened by commercial transformation.
