Story

When Ubu's ambitious wife pushes him toward power, he seizes control of Poland's throne through violence. Now ruling as a despotic leader, Ubu's reign becomes marked by cruelty and poor judgment, dragging the kingdom toward collapse. This film adapts Alfred Jarry's classic theatrical work, presenting a darkly comic examination of political corruption and the absurdity of unchecked authority.

Why watch

  • Directed by Paulo Abreu with a Portuguese cast including Miguel Loureiro
