Story
A young boy and his grandmother check into a seaside hotel in England, where he stumbles upon a sinister gathering. He witnesses witches plotting something dangerous involving children. When they catch him spying, he becomes caught in their scheme and must find a way to stop them with help from his grandmother and the hotel staff.
Why watch
- Nicolas Roeg directs this fantasy-horror blend with a distinctive visual style
- Features Anjelica Huston in a memorable role as the mysterious Miss Eva Ernst
- Based on Roald Dahl's novel, combining dark fantasy with adventure elements
Good for: Viewers who enjoy darker fantasy stories; note the horror elements mean it may not suit very young children despite the fantastical premise.
