Story

Set in a small New Zealand town, this drama follows 16-year-old Michael, who finds solace in cartography as a way to distance himself from everyday life. His carefully constructed world of isolation is disrupted by three women: his single mother Amelia, Mary, a young blind woman, and his friend Alison, whose presence brings unexpected complications. As these relationships develop, Michael must navigate between his desire for detachment and the connections others force upon him.

Why watch

  • Character-driven drama exploring teenage isolation and human connection
  • New Zealand setting with an intimate, small-town atmosphere
  • 90-minute film that balances introspection with interpersonal conflict

Good for: Viewers who enjoy quiet, character-focused dramas; certificate unknown, so check before watching with younger audiences.
