Story

This documentary explores a forgotten chapter of Colombian history centred on a village where shoemakers staged a brief uprising in 1929, demanding better working conditions. Though their revolt was quickly suppressed and largely erased from records, the spirit of their resistance endures. The film brings together the women of the village with Aura, an anarchist grandmother, to uncover and reclaim this buried story of defiance.

Why watch

  • A 25-minute documentary that unearths overlooked labour history in Colombia
  • Directed by Maria Rojas Arias with focus on women's perspectives and collective memory
  • Explores how communities preserve and pass down stories of resistance

Good for: Viewers interested in documentary storytelling and historical narratives will find this engaging; certificate status unknown, so check before watching with family.
