Story

Shūhei navigates a challenging childhood with his mother Akiko, whose struggles with alcohol and relationships leave him responsible for supporting the family. Instead of attending school, he finds himself caught between caring for his younger half-sister and dealing with his mother's cycles of dysfunction. His attempts to seek help from reluctant grandparents offer little relief as he tries to build a stable life amid constant hardship.

Why watch

Japanese drama directed by Tatsushi Ōmori exploring family relationships and resilience
Masami Nagasawa delivers a nuanced performance in a complex character study
