Story
Set in California during 1942, fourteen-year-old Homer Macauley works as a bicycle messenger in his small town, delivering telegrams to residents. With his older brother away at war, Homer becomes the primary support for his mother, sister, and younger brother. As he carries messages through spring and summer, he encounters stories of joy, sorrow, and loss. One particular delivery becomes a turning point, forcing Homer to mature beyond his years and confront the realities of wartime.
