Story

Following Japan's 2011 nuclear disaster, a local politician launches a campaign advocating against nuclear energy. Unlike his previous election bid, he faces severe resource constraints with minimal funding and organisational support. The documentary examines his grassroots effort while exploring the broader puzzle of why Japanese voters continued supporting pro-nuclear policies despite the catastrophe. Through this small-scale election, the film offers perspective on the nation's political attitudes during a critical moment.

Why watch

  • Documentary by acclaimed director Kazuhiro Soda exploring post-Fukushima Japan
  • Intimate look at grassroots political campaigning with minimal resources
  • Examines complex relationship between public opinion and nuclear policy

Good for: Viewers interested in documentary filmmaking and political analysis; not specifically a family viewing title.
