Where to watch Bowers Cave (2010)

Story

This short documentary explores the historical discovery of an archaeological site in Southern California during the 1880s. When two young boys stumbled upon a cave containing artefacts from the Chumash Indian people, the find set off a chain of events involving an amateur archaeologist who acquired and traded the objects for personal gain. The film traces how these culturally significant items were dispersed, with only a fraction eventually finding their way into a major museum collection.
